Elizabeth started training with Family Self Defense Center in 2010. Lizzy is now a 3rd degree black belt (Sensei) who helps teach five classes a week. In Samurai Sport Sword, she holds the rank of 3rd degree black sash.
In 2012, she was chosen by the International Isshinryu Hall of Fame to be the Top young Female Karate Student of the year (13-17), and in 2014 and 2016 was named top five in the same category. In 2015, she was named one of the top five Junior Female Competitors. In 2017, IHOF named her one of the top five in two categories: Adult Female Karate Student and Female Instructor.
She enjoys competing in tournaments, from local to international, and has won sparring championships at the IWKA world tournament in 2013 and 2015, and at the IHOF international tournament in 2012. At IHOF, her other finishes in the top four include 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016 in kumite; and in 2011 and 2014 in kata, placing 2nd both times.
Outside of karate she enjoys soccer, hanging out with friends, swimming, reading, going to the movies, traveling, and participating in Samurai sport sword classes.
