International Competition Awards 2010

In 2010, FSDC students received a record 31 Competition Awards, which included 6 first place, World Championships. Miss Devon DeCaire earned a World Championship for weapons, while Joshua and Mitchel Huang each received World Championships for kata. Mitchel also earned the right to compete in the prestigious Grand Championship for Jr. Black Belts. Receiving World Championships for their kumite skills were Tom Pospeshil, Alex Raeon, and Mark Swanson. In the weapons division Tanaz Naterwala, Annabel Spencer, and Andrew Swanson all received second place finishes. Mitchel Huang, Alex Pospeshil, Ryan Swanson, and James Takeshita all earned third place trophies while Alex Raeon and Mark Swanson each took fourth. In the kata division, Devon DeCaire, Tanaz Naterwala, Alex Pospeshil, Alex Raeon and Andrew Swanson all earned second place trophies. Third place winners included, Andrew and Tom Pospeshil and Mark and Ryan Swanson, while Noah D’Arcy received a fourth place finish. In the kumite division, Joshua and Mitchel Huang along with Cyd Spencer all earned second place rankings. Alex Pospeshil earned a third place trophy while Devon DeCaire and Tanaz Naterwala finished in fourth place.

In 2009, FSDC students received 9 Competition Awards, which included 3 first place, World Championships. Mitchel Huang became Jr. Men’s Black Belt World Champion for kata with his first place finish, and received a 3rd place trophy for both weapons and kumite. Tanaz Naterwala was crowned Jr. Women’s Black Belt World Champion for kata with her first place finish, and received a 2nd place trophy for weapons. Both Mr. Huang, and Miss Naterwala also earned the right to compete in the Black Belt Grand Championship, performing for a Board of highly renowned karate Masters. Devon DeCaire earned the Brown Belt World Championship with her first place finish for kata and received a 4th place trophy for her kumite efforts. Lily Kosaka earned two 4th place trophies for her performance in kata and weapons.

In 2008, FSDC received 3 Competition Awards. Mr. Huang became World Champion for his first place finish in kata. Brenna Cameron received a 3rd place trophy for weapons and Ryan Tgiros received a 4th place trophy for kumite. In 2007, Mr. Huang was World Champion for his first place finish in kata, while Mr. Tgiros received a World Champion trophy for kumite.
