World Competition

2015 Awards

In 2015, 15 students attended the World Isshinryu Karate Tournament held in Princeton, New Jersey. Two students earned the title of World Champion with 9 other students placing 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

Earning World Titles were: Lizzy Arnold in Jr. Black Belt, 15-17, Female Sparring and Shaelyn Carroll in Jr. Black Belt, 11 and under Weapons.

Earning Second place were Shaelyn Carroll in Kata, Trevor Adomaitis and Soorya Ramappan in Kumite, and Mitchel Huang in Weapons.

Taking 3rd were Amelia Chung and Trevor Adomaitis in Kata, and Joshua Huang in Weapons. Earning a 4th place finish were Joshua Huang in Kata and Rowan Adomaitis in Kumite.

2013 Awards

In 2013, 32 FSDC students attended the World Isshinryu Karate Tournament held in Akron, Ohio. 13 students earned the title of World Champion, with 16 other students placing 2nd or 3rd.

Earning World Titles in kata were: James Takeshita, Mitchel Huang, and Rohun Savanur. In weapons were, Mitchel Huang, Rohun Savanur, Shaelyn Carroll and Soorya Ramappan. And in kumite were: Andrew Swanson, Mark Swanson, Lizzy Arnold, Soorya Ramappan, Teddy Donahue and Tom Pospeshil. Mark Swanson also won the right to compete in the World Grand Championship Black Belt Kumite round.

In the kata division, Dhruva Vishwanath, Joshua Huang, Krishna Kiru, and Ryan Swanson earned 2nd place wins, with Abhay Vora, Ben Matas, Krithika Swaminathan, Shaelyn Carroll, Shankar Kiru and Teddy Donahue earning third place finishes.

In the weapons division, Mark Swanson and Teddy Donahue earned second place wins, with Krishna Kiru and Shankar Kiru receiving third place finishes.

For kumite, James Takeshita earned a second place finish, with Shaelyn Carroll receiving a third place finish.

FSDC was also named one of the “Top Three Supportive Dojos” in 2013, for the World Tournament.
