Zach Verhelle

In the fall of 2008, Zach wanted to join the chess club. However, he was  encouraged to join a more active extracurricular activity. Zach and his father, Scott,  signed up for FSDC and about four years later both earned their 1st degree black belt.  Shortly after, Zach went to a boarding academy to finish high school and started an  FSDC satellite school where he had the opportunity to teach karate to other high school students. He returned to FSDC during the summer months in order to teach and  practice Isshinryu.  

Zach graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering in  2019 and earned a master’s of business administration degree in 2020. He currently  works as a process engineer at his family’s heat treating business.  

Zach enjoys teaching the brown belt students the most. One of his favorite parts activities at FSDC and is working bunkai with Mr. Z. Outside of karate, Zach enjoys working out with his wife, playing piano, baking, and golfing.
